Our Young at Heart volunteer program has been specifically tailored for mature travellers who want to spend a part of their trip volunteering before spring-boarding off to other destinations in the region.

It can be organised to accommodate single travellers or small groups. Not only will you discover all the extraordinary tourist attractions of Cambodia but you will also work part of each day in a squatter community. Learn Khmer, teach children English, hear their stories, explore their communities, involve yourself in their daily activities and interact with the children.

See a side of Cambodia that very few people are privileged to experience. Understand the cycle of poverty that comes as a result of little or no education. And see first-hand how illiteracy and the ignorance that is borne from that impacts heavily on people’s opportunities in life.

Volunteering overseas is a fantastic way for travellers to be able to give a little back to the communities that they visit. You will have the opportunity to really connect with the people in a way that is just not possible when travelling through a country as a regular tourist.

By joining us in Cambodia, even for just a short time we promise that you will have a truly enriching experience where you can completely immerse yourself in a new country and culture.

You will be warmly welcomed into our communities as part of the Matesabroad extended family and come away knowing that you have made an enormously valuable contribution.

We are very proud of the fact that many of our volunteers maintain long term contact with us and make return visits.
